Rangefinder 30 Rising Stars // I am so very excited to let you all know that I have been named as one of the Rangefinder 30 Rising Stars of 2017. Oh. My. Good. God!

Unless you are a wedding photographer yourself you may not know that every year, New York based, Rangefinder Magazine announce Rangefinder 30 Rising Stars in Wedding Photography in the world. In. The. Flipping. World. It was a huge surprise and honour to be nominated. I thought to myself, ‘I have no chance in hell but hey ho, in for a penny in for a pound,’ and gave it my best shot.

Portfolio review was really worthwhile

Whatever the outcome the submission process was worthwhile – it forced me to review my portfolio and consider the journey I had travelled in just under five years as a full time wedding photographer. I felt good about the work I pulled together – it made me smile. I found myself reminiscing about all the incredible days I have had the privilege to be part of. I pressed send and thought who knows if they’ll like it but it is very me.

To be told that I had been selected as one of those 30 winners, out of 200+ nominees across the world, was just crazy. I was so happy I very almost cried. (Although I have had near to two months for this to sink in I am still chuckling to myself now – I’m not sure I’ll ever believe it!)

What it feels like to become an international award winning wedding photographer (bonkers!)

I’ve never been one to chase accolades – ultimately it is my couples’ feedback and happiness that fulfils me but to have my work recognised on such a renowned international photography platform – is just nuts. I feel extremely privileged and proud of myself for sticking to my guns.

Massive Thanks

Thank you so much to the person who nominated me – you legend; to the judges; everyone at Rangefinder; my ever loving and supportive family; my wedding industry peers who have become such solid friends (you know who you are). My wonderful couples who connect with my vision, invite me along to document one of the most important days of their lives and become friends. But most importantly to my husband, Dave, who gave me the courage to quit teaching just 5 years ago to pursue my dream and our son, Rocco, who has been the ultimate kick up the arse in so many ways. Thank you all so so much.
